The Redi-Go has been doing wonders for Nissan’s sister brand Datsun in India. Based on the same underpinning as that of the Renault KWID, the Redi-Go is currently powered by a 0.8-litre engine which churns out 52Bhp along with 72nm of peak torque. Now according to a report published in ET Auto, the Datsiun is going to introduce a more powerful 1L engine in the Redi-Go by mid 2017.
The engine is question here in all likeliness is going to be the 1.0-litre SCe unit that is currently available with the Renault KWID. Sold alongside the standard 5-speed manual gearbox, the AMT and the 1.0-litre engine in the Redi-Go will be made available on the top spec S trims, increasing the prices of the vehicle by up to 1 lakh at most. Currently, the prices for the base variant of the Datsun Redi-Go start at INR 2.38 lakh while the top of the line model retails at INR 3.34 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Datsun recently launched the Redi-Go Sport which comes with multiple new features on baord and retails at a price of INR 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Read Also: P.V. When launched, the Datsun Redi-Go sport will compete against the likes of Renault KWID, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and the Hyundai Eon.
