The sales figures for the month of November 2016 are out. According to the data released by Volkswagen, the German automaker sold 4,014 units during this period in comparison to 1,942 units last year. This amounts to a total increase of 107 percent.
Mr. Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “We have witnessed an encouraging growth with our November sales welcoming new members to the Volkswagen family. Earlier this year, we launched the Ameo and were positive that the vehicle would succeed in drawing car buyers’ attention and it has lived up to our expectations.”
Achieving an upward growth curve, Volkswagen attributes majority of this growth to increasing sales of the Ameo. Also, this November, Volkswagen marked an important milestone announcing the introduction of ABS and Dual Airbags as standard fitments across all Volkswagen carlines in India. The added safety features have set new benchmarks in safety by adopting global standards for all Volkswagen products in India. Volkswagen today has an enhanced product presence in the Indian car market and consumers will now have a wider choice to select from Volkswagen’s large product portfolio ahead of the upcoming holiday season. Talking about the Ameo, the same was first introduced in India earlier this year only with a petrol derivative with the diesel derivative making its way us recently.
Volkswagen’s first attempt at making a compact sedan or a notchback has turned out to be quite a positive gamble. With its superior built quality along with a line-up of powerful engines, the Ameo surely is one of the best buy in the budget compact segment at the moment.
