After the successful launch of the Ignis, Baleno RS and the Dzire in India this year, the next in line product from Maruti Suzuki is going to be the next-generation Swift. Expected to debut in our country by the festive season this year, the 2017 Swift is going to be a completely new vehicle from the ground up. Not only will this hatchback is to get an all new design, but will also feature a whole array of creature comforts on-board. Apart from this, the 2017 Swift is going to be considerably safer in comparison to the outgoing model. The Maruti Suzuki Swift will be based on the lightweight modular Maruti Baleno platform that will make the car lighter, more fuel efficient and performance oriented. The car is expected to be 50-100kgs lighter as compared to the outgoing model.
While the petrol variant will be powered by a 1.2-litre K-series engine producing 84bhp of maximum power and 114Nm of peak torque, the oil burner will be powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine producing 75bhp of power and 170Nm of peak torque. It is being reported that the car will be powered by a newly developed 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission duties will be carried out by a 5-speed manual gearbox. As far as the design is concerned, the 2017 Maruti Swift gets completely new design with new exteriors and interiors. On the exteriors, the car sports new hexagonal grille upfront, projector headlamps, sloping roofline at the rear and a wide rear profile with LED taillights.
On the interiors, the car sports a new cabin with newly designed dashboard with touch-screen infotainment system, three spoke flat bottom steering wheel with steering mounted controls, better seats and the likes.
The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift will be feature loaded with features like cruise control, ESP, dual airbags and ABS as standard fitment, touch-screen infotainment system, automatic climate control system, automatic ORVMs, twin pod digital instrument cluster with MID display and the likes. 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport
The car will also be offered in a sports variant called the Swift Sport. While globally, the car is expected to be powered by a 1.4-litre BoosterJet engine, in India, the car is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol engine developing 110bhp of power and 170Nm of peak torque. The engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while a 6-speed automatic transmission might be available as an option.
The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift will be showcased to the world at the 2016 Paris Motor Show while the car is expected launched in India by mid-2017. Once launched, the car is expected to be priced in the range of INR 4.5 lakh to INR 8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
