Come tomorrow and we are going to witness the debut of Hyundai’s 2017 Xcent facelift in the Indian car market. Set to liven up the compact sedan segment, Hyundai has provided its challenger with a mid-life update that comes with a majority of cosmetic modifications along with an array of feature additions as well.
First taking the price point into consideration, the 2017 Hyundai Xcent is likely to fall in the range of INR 5,5 lakh to 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom). With all the updates done, it is quite likely that Hyundai might just increase the prices of of this compact sedan to a minute extent.
Now to the design updates, as seen several time in numerous spy shots which have surfaced on the internet, the 2017 Hyundai Xcent will get an extensively restyled exterior profile. Up-front one is to get a similar looking facia but the sedan now comes adorning an all new bumper. The same gets a much more aggressive looking front grille which is highlighted by chrome. The side profile remains identical to the model which was earlier on sale in the India. Towards the back however, things are completely different. The entire facia has been changed as it now gets restyled tail-lamps which are inspired from the one seen on the Hyundai Creta and soon to be launched Hyundai Verna 2017. The boot-lid as well as the bumper also feature design updates.
Inside the cabin, things remain exactly same as before. However, with this update, the 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift is to come with a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which offers Apple Car Play, Android Auto and Mirror link connectivity. Coming to the engine specifications of the 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift, the same will continue to be offered in both petrol as well as diesel derivatives. The former is to get the same 1.2-litre VTVT unit which produces 82Bhp along with 114Nm of peak torque. The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual gearbox, while buyers will also be able to choose a 4-speed automatic. There will however be a new 1.2-litre diesel engine, replacing the earlier 1.1-litre unit. This CRDi unit is good for producing 73Bhp along with 190Nm of peak torque and will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
