We informed you earlier that Hyundai will launch two new cars in the Indian car market this year. The first model to be launched in the Tucson during the festive season, while the second model to be launched in new 2016 Elantra sedan. Scheduled to be launched by the end of this year, the new Hyundai Elantra will be locally assembled at the company's plant in Chennai.
The new Elantra is already on sale in select international markets including South Korea and North America. The new model is based on the evolved Fluidic 2.0 Design philosophy, which gives the sedan a more matured look. The vehicle features Hyundai's prominent hexagonal front grille with chrome inserts, all-new bumper with integrated LED daytime running lamps, HID headlamps with 'Dynamic bending lights', LED taillamps with indicators, and LED door handle approach. The majority of the changes will be offered inside the cabin, which now ditches the current model's flowing dashboard design. It will get an all-new dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto. The exact engine specifications of the new Hyundai Elantra sedan are yet to be announced. The vehicle is likely to get a 149bhp, 2.0-litre petrol and a 136bhp, 1.6-litre diesel engine. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic unit. It will rival against the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda Octavia and the upcoming Honda Civic.
