According to a report by ETAuto, the Regional Transport offices in the state of Tamil Nadu are not registering BS IV compliant motorcycles manufactured by Yamaha Motor India, Hero Motocorp and TVS Motor company, almost 16 days after the blanket ban on the registration of BSIII motorcycles across India.
The registration process of the new BS IV motorcycles has been marred due to the lack of any documentation which could differentiate between the BS III and BS IV compliant vehicles. Apparently, companies other than Yamaha, Hero and TVS have sent the details relating to the guidelines for the new vehicles to the RTOs.
Yamaha Motor India has said that they have provided the required knowledge and clarity to the RTOs which will begin the registration process soon whereas companies like Bajaj Auto which was one of the first to have moved to BS IV were extremely competent in providing clear information to the RTOs beforehand. Along with Bajaj, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India also provided clear instructions to the authorities to prevent any unnecessary mix up.
However, the districts of Coimbatore and Madurai have not seen registrations of even Bajaj Auto and HMSI vehicles. Although in the future it is expected that registrations will begin from 24th April in Tamil Nadu and the dealers will finally get a go ahead for registration of their vehicles to prevent any further delay.
