Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) had announced that it will launch two scooters and two motorcycles in the current financial year. Regarding this, a report at MotorOctane states that the Honda Scoopy will be one of the scooters that the manufacturer is planning to bring to India. The Honda Scoopy is being sold in the major international markets as the Metropolitan and in some, it is called Giorno.
The Honda Metropolitan scooter is sold globally with a 50cc fuel injected engine. However, this will not be the case when it will be launched in India. The Honda Scoopy will be powered by the same 110cc engine that runs the company’s Activa and Aviator and will be BS-IV compliant.
Talking of the design language, the upcoming Honda Scoopy will come inspired from the retro theme. This will make the Scoopy challenge the likes of the Yamaha Fascino. The latter is doing fine in the Indian two-wheeler market majorly because of its old school looks. Feature wise, the Scoopy may come with an optional USB charging port for added convenience. Also, the instrumentation will be retro type with a white dial resembling to the unit that come in the Fascino.
The Honda Scoopy is expected to be launched in India sometime around the coming Diwali. The retro scooter will hopefully be priced close to INR 55,000 (ex-showroom). Having said that, the scooter will rival primarily with the Yamaha Fascino and then, the Vespas in terms of design and styling.
