Mr Rajiv Bajaj, the Managing Director of Bajaj Auto in a recent interview to Money Control, revealed many interesting bits about his market strategies and upcoming product launches. The top honcho also revealed his sentiments towards the 100cc bike segment in India and he sees no future in it.
Mr Rajiv Bajaj believes that the 100cc motorcycles of today will be the bicycles of future. Also, since these motorcycles sit at the bottom of the displacement pyramid, the segment will be shrinking gradually with the passage of time. Bajaj Auto feels that the company is not trying to do a little bit of everything, instead it is trying to do one thing and be the best at it.
In the coming months, the scope of the 100cc bikes in India is tend to decrease but this does not mean that the segment itself is going to perish in the next five years or so. Also, Bajaj stated that this does not translates for the company to exit the 100cc motorcycle segment
Mr Rajiv Bajaj had also revealed that the brand is planning to launch a big capacity motorcycle that will come in the price range of the Dominar 400 within the next three months. Also, the popular Pulsar and Avenger brands will witness new products rolling in so that the momentum can stay intact. Earlier, Bajaj increased the availability of its flagship model Dominar 400 to more Indian cities. The company sees itself clocking 10,000 unit sales a month with the Dominar by September this year that includes exports as well.
