Audi, German luxury auto brand is currently focusing on its smallest crossover compact SUV. Followed by its official world debut at 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the all new Q2 will be based on Volkswagen Group’s modular MQB platform. The Q2 will be an entry level SUV in the German brand’s portfolio as it finds it place below Q3.
Audi Q2 Exterior
On the exterior front, the small SUV will flaunt signature style trapezoidal grille with wider air dams. It also gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs, indicative of other Audi cars. The side profile of the small SUV gets body coloured OVRMs that are integrated with turn indicators, sloping roofline, body coloured door handles and 20-spoke alloy wheels. The rear end bags LED tail lights, washer wiper and silver skid plate claddings. Dimensionally, the small SUV is 4.19 meters in length, 1.79 meters in width and 1.51 meters in height, along with a wheelbase of 2.6 meters.
Audi Q2 Interior
On the inside, the Audi Q2 will sport similar design as that of current gen Audi Q3. The small SUV will also bag sporty red inserts on the dashboard along with features such as leather wrapped, multi-function, flat-bottomed, 3-spoke steering wheel with audio, multi-media & telephony controls, Dual-zone automatic climate control, 12.3-inch high-definition color display and premium leather upholstery.
Audi Q2 Engine specifications and Performance
The upcoming Audi Q2 crossover compact SUV will be offered in six different engines. The base variant will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that can produce 114bhp while the higher variant is powered by 1.4-litre petrol engine effortlessly generates 148bhp and next higher variant bags 2.0-litre petrol engine which churns 190bhp. On the other hand, the diesel variants will be driven by 1.6-litre generates 114 bhp, and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel that comes in two tuned states – 148 and 190 hp. Both the 2.0-liter diesel and petrol engines will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as standard, while the same transmission will be offered as an optional across the rest of the range and a 6-speed manual will be standard option.
Audi Q2 Launch Date, Price and Competition
Audi Q2 is expected to arrive in the European market this year and will reach the Indian shores by the early 2017. Likely to be priced in the slot of INR 18 lakh – INR 25 lakh (ex-showroom), this small crossover compact SUV will go against the likes of Mini Countryman, Ssangyong Tivoli and Volkswagen Tiguan.
